To lower the barrier to integration and expedite health care interoperability, Open Health Tools provides client side implementations of several key IHE profiles. These implementations were used successfully by over 35 systems to date at the 2007-2010 Connectathons in North America and Europe.

PixelMed Java DICOM Toolkit

PixelMed Java DICOM Toolkit is a stand-alone DICOM toolkit that implements code for reading and creating DICOM data, DICOM network and file support, a database of DICOM objects, support for display of directories, images, reports and spectra, and DICOM object validation.

The toolkit is a completely new implementation, which does not depend on any other DICOM tools, commercial or free. It does make use of other freely available pure Java tools for compression and XML and database support.

FreeSHIM

FreeSHIM is an opensource electronic medical device interface, which aims to allow any EMR/PM system to talk to any medical device attached to a workstation without having to install tons of pesky drivers or “reinvent the wheel” for each additional device manufacturer.

It is written in Java, and has been tested on Linux and Windows workstations (though we’re pretty sure it also runs fine on Mac OS X as well), and exposes both SOAP and REST interfaces. Its only prerequisite is a running J2EE container, such as Apache Tomcat.

CONNECT uses Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) standards and governance to make sure that health information exchanges are compatible with other exchanges being set up throughout the country.

XML Validation Framework and Canonical XML dictionary-based exchange assembly - OASIS CAM

The OASIS CAM toolkit provides a suite of tools for XML Validation and XML Exchange design and assembly from canonical XML dictionary components.

Included in the toolkit is an XML Editor/Validation/Schema Designer along with the CAMV runtime XML validation engine.

The project implements the OASIS CAM standard & NIEM IEPD approach. The visual editor allows design of exchange structures using XML components dictionaries.

OpenNCP is a suite of epSOS NCP software publicly available under Open Source licensing (partly GPL v. 3 and partly ASL v. 2). The software acts as a bidirectional technical, organisational and legal interface between the existing national infrastructures and also acts as a mediator as far as the legal and regulatory aspects are concerned.

It gives clinicians access to patients’ data in a way that gives them maximum clinical value and insight — without having to worry about where the data is coming from. Sinapsis-HIS is a Health Information System designed as a collection of Hospital Information Systems that synchronize their databases with a single region-wide database that contains all medical records and other information in a unified format.

  • Sinapsis contains Care2x software ported to PHP5 and rewritten with a clearer 3-tier architecture (Presentation, Logic and Database)
  • Currently has the original Patient and Medical Record modules, as well as a (new) Interconsultation module (other modules will be rewritten following the 3-tier architecture)
