Snofyre is an open source, service oriented API for creating SNOMED CT enabled applications in Java. It provides a number of SNOMED CT related services out of the box. These services can be used:
- as a starter for understanding how to add SNOMED CT functionality to an application.
- to rapidly prototype a SNOMED CT enabled application.
Snofyre API aims to
- reduce the 'ramp up' time needed to understand
- and embed SNOMED CT functionality in an application.
This project provides a simple but flexible Perl Toolkit for using the HL7 protocol. The toolkit consists of a Perl API, an implementation of a pluggable forking HL7 server, and an HL7 message queue daemon for developing HL7 capable applications in Perl.
HL7 file viewer, in tree-view format, with associated segment/field documentation. The latest release now includes editing, at all levels in the tree-view, e.g segment, field or component values. Purpose is for testing and bug-tracing HL7 communications.
"Bots for the translations and communication needed in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Bots has three main functions: 'Any-to-any-format' data conversions, (Secure) communications and manage and overview EDI data flows."
Chiapas is an enterprise level HIPAA data translation package. It supports all major healthcare transactions and a variety of SQL databases and file types, and incorporates a script parser and a GUI studio for development and maintaining specifications.
"DataServer is an open source XML gateway, specially tailored for the medical domain. DataServer is middleware, situated between clients and traditional Health Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS). It supports relational (SQL), SOAP, and HTTP data sources out of the box, but is highly extensible for custom types."
REMITT is a revolutionary medical information translation and transmission system, which is primarily used for preparing and submitting medical billing data.
REMITT works independent of any specific electronic medical record (EMR) or practice management (PM) system, and can interface with any EMR or PM system which implements its application programming interface (API). The first system to do so has been FreeMED.

CONNECT is an open source software solution that supports health information exchange – both locally and at the national level. CONNECT uses Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) standards and governance to make sure that health information exchanges are compatible with other exchanges being set up throughout the country.
XML Validation Framework and Canonical XML dictionary-based exchange assembly - OASIS CAM
The OASIS CAM toolkit provides a suite of tools for XML Validation and XML Exchange design and assembly from canonical XML dictionary components.
Included in the toolkit is an XML Editor/Validation/Schema Designer along with the CAMV runtime XML validation engine.
The project implements the OASIS CAM standard & NIEM IEPD approach. The visual editor allows design of exchange structures using XML components dictionaries.
DICOM basic constructs used to create the tools at CharruaSoft.com. Its C++ code is a re-interpretation of the original UCDMC library by Mark Oskin. It tries to be much simpler and compact, also uses many Borland VCL specific structures.
