IHE open source

This project holds an implementation of the Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) profile as defined by IHE (ihe.net). It includes implementations of both the Document Registry and Document Repository actors.

The project is deployed at the XDS Public Registry Test Facility of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

OpenATNA

ATNA is an IHE security profile representing Audit Trail and Node Authentication. OpenATNA is an implementation of an Audit Record Repository supporting RFC 3881 audit messages over BSD Syslog as well as RFC 5424-5426 (UDP and TLS).

OpenATNA Features:

  • Optimizes the database so that entities such as active participants, audit sources, participant objects and codes are not duplicated for every message received.
  • Performs validation of messages as they arrive.
  • Optionally logs errors as well as audit messages.
  • Supports TLS and UDP.

Open Health Tools Project Implementation of IHE Profiles

To lower the barrier to integration and expedite health care interoperability, Open Health Tools provides client side implementations of several key IHE profiles. These implementations were used successfully by over 35 systems to date at the 2007-2010 Connectathons in North America and Europe.

OpenNCP

OpenNCP is a suite of epSOS NCP software publicly available under Open Source licensing (partly GPL v. 3 and partly ASL v. 2). The software acts as a bidirectional technical, organisational and legal interface between the existing national infrastructures and also acts as a mediator as far as the legal and regulatory aspects are concerned.

OpenNCP Community is an open group of people orchestrated by an agile software development methodology conducting effort on designing, coding, testing and delivering OpenNCP software.

WEASIS

Weasis is a multipurpose web-based viewer with a highly modular architecture. It has been designed to meet several expectations of clinical information systems and their future evolution regarding medical imaging: providing a web-based access to radiological images, as well as offering multimedia capabilities.

Weasis can be easily interfaced to any PACS supporting WADO via a web portal or as an XDS-I consumer in an IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) environment (not yet fully implemented). It has been successfully interfaced to dcm4chee and commercial PACS.

Mediboard

Mediboard is an open source Healthcare Information System based on web technologies.

Deployed in either a public or private healthcare center, Mediboard handles the whole its patient files as well as most workflows and plannings of its activity.

As of april 2011, more than 1,1 million patient files in France are managed by Mediboard (link).

IHE Gazelle Tools

The Gazelle project is aimed at developing testing tools for IHE. This tools shall test the interoperability of medical systems and the compliance of the messages send bu those systems with standards recommended by IHE.

Gazelle is replacing Kudu, the tool that was first designed to manage IHE connectathon.

Dcm4che

dcm4che is a collection of open source applications and utilities for the healthcare enterprise. These applications have been developed in the Java programming language for performance and portability, supporting deployment on JDK 1.4 and up.

At the core of the dcm4che project is a robust implementation of the DICOM standard. The dcm4che-1.x DICOM toolkit is used in many production applications across the world, while the current (2.x) version of the toolkit has been re-architected for high performance and flexibility.
