DataViewer3D (DV3D)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3 (1 vote)

DataViewer3D (DV3D) is a multi-modal imaging data visualization tool offering a cross-platform, open-source solution to simultaneous data overlay visualization requirements of imaging studies.

MIView

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 2.1 (7 votes)

MIView is an OpenGL based medical image viewer that contains useful tools such as a DICOM anonymizer and format conversion utility. MIView can read DICOM, Analyze/Nifti, and raster images, and can write Analyze/Nifti and raster images. It can also read and convert DICOM mosaic images. The main goal of MIView is to provide a platform to load any type of medical image and be able to view and manipulate the image. Volume rendering is the main type of advanced visualization that I'm trying to implement.

Java Light PACS Viewer (jlpv)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 1.7 (3 votes)

jlpv is a Java Light PACS Viewer application useful for review series or images from DICOM data retrieved from the DCM4CHEE PACS system. It also uses ImageJ as a rendering engine or viewer. This project is in a early stage.

Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 4.8 (12 votes)

The Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK) is a free open-source software system for development of interactive medical image processing software. MITK combines the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) with an application framework. As a toolkit, MITK offers those features that are relevant for the development of interactive medical imaging software covered neither by ITK nor VTK.

Core features of the MITK platform:

Mayam

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 2 (10 votes)

A Cross-platform DICOM viewer developed in Java using the dcm4che toolkit. Mayam is still work under progress. The current features are:

  • DICOM Listener for Q/R
  • DICOM Send
  • Local DB for storing study information
  • Importing DICOM studies from local disk
  • Parsing DicomDir from local disk or CD
  • Query compressed studies without decompressing them
  • Multiple Studies viewer using Layout,Tab view

Dicom3tools

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 4.2 (5 votes)

"Command line utilities for creating, modifying, dumping and validating files of DICOM attributes, and conversion of proprietary image formats to DICOM. Can handle older ACR/NEMA format data, and some proprietary versions of that such as SPI."

Kradview

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.4 (5 votes)

Kradview is a GPLed viewer of images obtained for some different sources: X-ray, NMR and DICOM-compatible imaging devices that runs on free operating systems. Its aim is a easy to use DICOM viewer with instant rendering of images, no matter the size and the zoom of the DICOM image. It covers the "let's see the the X-ray image" need of the medical professional.

Medical Exploration Toolkit (METK)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 1.8 (4 votes)

The MedicalExplorationToolkit (METK) was designed for loading, visualizing and exploring segmented medical data sets. It is a framework of several modules in MeVisLab, a development environment for medical image processing and visualization.

  • Case Management: Load and save whole cases of segmented structures e.g. for surgery planning, educational training or intra operative visualization.
  • Basic Visualization in 2D and 3D: Visualize segmented structures in multiple manner e.g. iso surface rendering, stippling, hatching, silhouettes, volume rendering, 2d overlays.

Dicom4j

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 1.3 (3 votes)

The purpose of the dicom4j platform is to provide java components related to the Dicom Standard. For those purpose, the platform is based on 4 areas:

  • framework: framework which implements the standards
  • toolkit: offer ways to easily develop software based on the framework
  • plugins: end-user components which adress commons needs you can find in most dicom applications
  • apps: stand alone applications for end-user or tests purpose

MediPy

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.2 (5 votes)

MediPy is a cross-platform software (Windows, Linux, Mac OS), dedicated to the visualization and processing aspects of medical imaging. It is targeted at both physicians and researchers, being both user-friendly and easy to extend. Physicians will benefit from the pre-programmed tasks (e.g. segmentation, registration, detection of lesions) and the possibility to record new tasks, tailoring the software to each user. The use of standard file formats (Analyze/Nifti, Dicom) allows to load image from many sources, as well as integrate to a PACS.
