As the European population ages, more support is needed with fewer hands to cater for their needs. There is a huge market potential for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) solutions, but adoption is limited because they require significant resources for implementation.
To address this, universAAL will produce an open platform that provides a standardized approach making it technically feasible and economically viable to develop AAL solutions.
This project has been partially funded with support from the EC.
Sagui Saúde is an open source software system to manage a primary healthcare center and to assist the mobile software Borboleta, a primary health homecare software. It is developed by FLOSS Competence Center of IME-USP. The general goal of the Borboleta Project is to investigate tools and innovative methodologies in IT to support home care programs in public health, using advanced tools of Mobile Computing to promote the improvement of health services offered to people with low income.
The system hospital osiris, it is a program for the administration of hospitals, this constructed in Glade+Mono+Sharp+GTK# and run GNU/Linux
ClearHealth is a next generation practice management and EMR. It supports Demographics, Scheduling, Full Medical Billing, Disease Management, Decision Support, EPrescribing, HL7, and Web Services.
It is Meaningful Use (Certified HIT Product) certified by the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC).
The Tolven platform and ePHR and eCHR applications enable interoperability across electronic health records for consumers and clinicians. Using Java, EJB3, Faces, Facelets, AJAX, relational database, and LDAP for security.
HIEOS is an open source implementation of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b) and Cross Community Access (XCA) integration profiles.
The Gazelle project is aimed at developing testing tools for IHE. This tools shall test the interoperability of medical systems and the compliance of the messages send bu those systems with standards recommended by IHE.
Gazelle is replacing Kudu, the tool that was first designed to manage IHE connectathon.
Mirth is an open source cross-platform HL7 interface engine that enables bi-directional sending of HL7 messages between systems and applications over multiple transports. It is divided in three subprojects:
- Mirth Connect: Specifically designed for HL7 message integration, Mirth Connect provides the necessary tools for developing, testing, deploying, and monitoring interfaces.
dcm4che is a collection of open source applications and utilities for the healthcare enterprise. These applications have been developed in the Java programming language for performance and portability, supporting deployment on JDK 1.4 and up.
At the core of the dcm4che project is a robust implementation of the DICOM standard. The dcm4che-1.x DICOM toolkit is used in many production applications across the world, while the current (2.x) version of the toolkit has been re-architected for high performance and flexibility.
"Mergence is a high performance, open source HL7integration engine and application platform. It was developed to fill the need for an open source, fully transactional healthcare integration system capable of handling millions of messages per day, and thousands of concurrent LLP connections. Mergence is based on Apache ServiceMix, a lightweight enterprise service bus which conforms to the JBI standard, and HAPI, an excellent opensource HL7v2 API. We plan to support HL7v3 in the next release."
