The 'surveillance' R Package

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 5 (2 votes)

The R-package ’surveillance’ is a framework for the development and the evaluation of outbreak detection algorithms in univariate and multivariate routine collected public health surveillance data. Hence, potential users are biostatisticians, epidemiologists and others working in applied infectious disease epidemiology. However, applications could just as well originate from environmetrics, reliability engineering, econometrics or social sciences.

Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 4.8 (12 votes)

The Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK) is a free open-source software system for development of interactive medical image processing software. MITK combines the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) with an application framework. As a toolkit, MITK offers those features that are relevant for the development of interactive medical imaging software covered neither by ITK nor VTK.

Core features of the MITK platform:

Vurtigo

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3 (3 votes)

Vurtigo is a four-dimensional (3D + time) real-time visualization software for guiding cardiovascular interventions. It is designed to be part of a pipeline that can connect it to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, actively tracked catheters, and navigational devices.

Written in C++ under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1, Vurtigo features a plug-in based architecture, allowing developers to extend the software using an interface to manipulate objects within Vurtigo. The software runs on Win32, Linux and Mac OS X.

ImageJ

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.5 (11 votes)

ImageJ is a public domain Java image processing program inspired by NIH Image for the Macintosh. It runs, either as an online applet or as a downloadable application, on any computer with a Java 1.4 or later virtual machine. Downloadable distributions are available for Windows, Mac OS, Mac OS X and Linux.

Medical Exploration Toolkit (METK)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 1.8 (4 votes)

The MedicalExplorationToolkit (METK) was designed for loading, visualizing and exploring segmented medical data sets. It is a framework of several modules in MeVisLab, a development environment for medical image processing and visualization.

  • Case Management: Load and save whole cases of segmented structures e.g. for surgery planning, educational training or intra operative visualization.
  • Basic Visualization in 2D and 3D: Visualize segmented structures in multiple manner e.g. iso surface rendering, stippling, hatching, silhouettes, volume rendering, 2d overlays.

Real-time Outbreak and Disease Surveillance (RODS)

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 2.7 (6 votes)

"Real-time Outbreak and Disease Surveillance (RODS) is open-source public health surveillance software. RODS collects and analyzes disease surveillance data in real time and has been in development since 1999 by the RODS Laboratory. In 2002, the Utah Department of Health used the software for monitoring during the Winter Olympics Games. At present, health departments and other groups in the United States, Canada and Taiwan use the software."

Voreen

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.3 (6 votes)

Voreen is an open source rapid application development framework for the interactive visualization and analysis of multi-modal volumetric data sets. It provides GPU-based volume rendering and data analysis techniques and offers high flexibility when developing new analysis workflows in collaboration with domain experts. The Voreen framework consists of a multi-platform C++ library, which can be easily integrated into existing applications, and a Qt-based stand-alone application.
