Caisis is an open source, web-based cancer data management system that integrates research with patient care. The system is freely distributed to promote scientific collaboration, and over the course of the last five years many other institutions have adopted the system. Collaboration with multiple centers has allowed Caisis to develop and evolve in an environment of constant feedback and scrutiny. This environment has shaped the features, usability, and accessibility of Caisis.

The Project HealthDesign Common Platform is a set of software components that provide common, shared functions to a variety of personal health applications (PHAs). The goal of “centralizing” these functions is to reduce personal health application implementation time and increase interoperability among the PHAs. The common platform components are currently implemented as web services that PHAs may access via standard web interfaces. Services exist for storing observations and medications, as well as for providing authentication, registry, and access-control functions.

The terminology server of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund is a composition of several web services and provides a terminology browser to display and maintain the content.
A collaboration environment supports the development of terminologies in a team. Moreover a command line tool to import Code Systems and Values Sets is included.
