This project provides a simple but flexible Perl Toolkit for using the HL7 protocol. The toolkit consists of a Perl API, an implementation of a pluggable forking HL7 server, and an HL7 message queue daemon for developing HL7 capable applications in Perl.

Vurtigo is a four-dimensional (3D + time) real-time visualization software for guiding cardiovascular interventions. It is designed to be part of a pipeline that can connect it to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, actively tracked catheters, and navigational devices.

Written in C++ under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1, Vurtigo features a plug-in based architecture, allowing developers to extend the software using an interface to manipulate objects within Vurtigo. The software runs on Win32, Linux and Mac OS X.

The "MITO - Medical Imaging TOolkit" project coagulates a number of activities aimed at defining and implementing an open-source, cross-platform software architecture for advanced Medical Imaging. MITO toolkit makes it possible to fetch radiological information and images stored in a PACS according to the standard format DICOM, then provides the final user with basic functionalities such as 2D-3D visualization (VR, SR, MIP), image segmentation and fusion, ROI. Moreover, MITO provides interaction techniques for manipulating 3D medical data in a virtual environment by 2 DOF input devices.

"Real-time Outbreak and Disease Surveillance (RODS) is open-source public health surveillance software. RODS collects and analyzes disease surveillance data in real time and has been in development since 1999 by the RODS Laboratory. In 2002, the Utah Department of Health used the software for monitoring during the Winter Olympics Games. At present, health departments and other groups in the United States, Canada and Taiwan use the software."

Laika

Laika analyzes and reports on the interoperability capabilities of EHR systems. This includes the testing for certification of EHR software products and networks.

To support EHR data interoperability testing, Laika is designed to verify the input and output of EHR data against the standards and criteria identified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). Laika is used by the Certification Commission to perform part of the interoperability certification inspection of EHRs.
