Comments

facts:
- written in Java
- used PostgreSQL

positive:
- installation via manuals is possible
- a small free forum can help if questions arise
- well-arranged client interface
- nice design (get the selected windows theme)
- predefined user groups (about 20) with there own interface

negative:
- the server application need up to 3 minutes (P4, 2GHz, littered) to start, the batch window must stay open
- some function calls are slow
- a translation with the included tool couldn't work
- bugs confuse the handler, but are very rare and can bypassed

I tried to test the patientOS, but could not download the starter-099-database.sql (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/patientos/starter-099-database.zip - This page is available only for project members. It Will Be available for all users in the future. Please try again later. if you log in, all of your projects Will Be available.)

How to proceed in this case?

I would appreciate the help

Leandro

Leandro, did you try another mirror (like for example 1, 2, 3)? They worked for me and I was able to immediately start downloading the file ...

From which location are you trying to download? I've heard, that sourceforge.net is restricting access from certain countries (see my blog post) ...

Holger

I think we're running version 1.0 but cannot fully tell. A bit confused. Since i'm not a developer in the opensource community, I don't really know how to communicate a proper review or what is expected of an opensource project: but i am a programmer which may help a bit. We are using it in our practice actively at this time at its full capacity.

I think i'd be a great source for any questions though i'll probably need a little guidance of what is expected of a technical review of the software/project. Most of the software reviews have not been in-depth and i think that makes them valueless. You can email me at yur.tze@gmail.com with any questions or suggestions, i'd be glad to post an in-depth review.

First of all it is already great that you dropped by and left this info that you are using PatientOS at your institution and that you are open for any further questions. Thanks for that!

We and our fellow community at medfloss.org are primarily aiming to help potential users (medical staff and IT professionals) to find the right project for their purposes, beside given an overview of available medical FLOSS projects and promoting Open Source software for health care in general.

So what could help are some insights in your experiences with this project:

- installation process, how easy was it to get it up and running?
- maintenance efforts, a lot to take care of in daily routine?
- user experiences and acceptance, targeting at things like ease of use, clarity, fulfillment of the original requirements.
- what are key dis-/advantages from your perspective?
- how did you happen to start using PatientOS? Did it replace a commercial/proprietary software product?
- ...

If you like we could also add your institution as reference site as we have a dedicated category for that.

Thanks again and best regards,

Holger
