Open Source Electronic Health Record Agent (OSEHRA) is the central governing body of an open source community designed to unleash innovation in electronic health record software. Initiated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and seeded with VA’s VistA electronic health record, OSEHRA welcomes participation from everyone – in government, industry, and academia – who has an interest in advancing EHR technology and its impact on health care.
OSEHRA’s mission is to facilitate, through the use of the best practices in open source software development, the improvement and maintenance of EHR information systems. These systems will be freely available for all medical beneficiaries and – like other successful open source communities – will welcome the contributions of all kinds of developers.
